Now, if you are looking for a hipster vibe, go no further than Malasaña and Chueca. From pleasant coffee shops during the day to alternative bars in the nighttime, this is where the action happens. Plaza del Dos de Mayo is a particularly well-known square where many people gather before hitting the clubs.
You cannot go to Madrid and not pay a visit to its largest park. El Retiro has more than 15,000 trees and covers more than 125 hectares! Since 1868, it attracts residents and tourists, who can enjoy its beautiful lake, admire the sculptures scattered around the park, practice sports or simply relax.
Another popular option to have a quiet time sitting in the grass is Templo de Debod, an Egyptian temple donated to Madrid and surrounded by gardens. It offers an amazing view of the city, specially at sunset. Go there with your travel photographer and you’re guaranteed amazing photos!
Don’t forget to reserve your Sunday for strolling and shopping in El Rastro. This open air flea market has been taking place for over 400 years, and you can explore it every Sunday and public holidays. It is located in La Latina, an authentic and popular neighborhood with plenty of amazing food options
